Infidelity test: what questions does a polygraph examiner ask, and how should you prepare?

Suspicion is poison for a relationship. It ruins your sleep, provokes arguments and conjures up scenarios in your head that are often more frightening than reality. You start looking for answers in your partner’s phone, analysing every intonation and checking their social media, but this only deepens the crisis.

The truth is that uncertainty is more exhausting than any answer. That is why a professional lie detector test for infidelity gives many couples in Ukraine and Europe a chance to put an end to their doubts. It is not about humiliation but about the right to know the truth — so that you can either rebuild trust or honestly bring your shared story to a close.

Looking for an answer rather than signs? There are two ways to find out for sure: the online VerifEye test (from 2,500 UAH (≈ €50), no office visit) or a classic polygraph — calculate the price.

How does a polygraph test of a wife or husband work?

The first and inviolable rule of our work is voluntary consent. Bringing someone to a test by force is impossible and illegal. A polygraph test of a wife or husband is carried out only when the partner knowingly agrees to be tested in order to prove their honesty or to clear themselves of groundless accusations.

Incidentally, a flat refusal without objective reasons often becomes a serious signal for the other side — one that carries no less weight than the test result itself.

The testing procedure usually includes:

  • Duration: 1.5 to 3 hours.

  • Conditions: a quiet office with no outsiders present.

  • Stages: the pre-test interview, a detailed discussion of the situation, agreeing the list of questions and the actual recording of reactions.

It is important to understand that a polygraph does not read minds. It records physiological changes (breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, sweating) in response to stimuli. That is why the accuracy of the result depends largely on how correctly the questions are worded.

Lie detector questions about infidelity: what exactly is asked?

What clients worry about most often is how deeply the specialist will “dig into their dirty laundry”. In fact, all lie detector questions about infidelity must be:

  1. Extremely clear and easy to understand.

  2. Specific (no vague time frames).

  3. Closed (the only possible answers are “Yes” or “No”).

We never ask about feelings, for example: “Do you love your husband?” That is subjective. We ask about facts.

Examples of correct wording:

  • “In the last 2 years, have you had sexual intercourse with anyone other than your wife?”

  • “Have you hidden from your husband the fact that you secretly met another man?”

  • “Did you kiss a colleague at the New Year office party?”

  • “Have you deleted messages in messaging apps to hide intimate communication?”

We draw up the entire list of questions together with the client before the procedure begins. There will be no “surprises” or trick questions during the test — this is a standard of professional ethics.

How to prepare for a polygraph test: a checklist for the examinee

Good preparation for a polygraph test is the key to clear reactions and a reliable result. If you are planning to take the test, follow these recommendations:

  1. A full night’s sleep. Fatigue drains the nervous system, which can distort the charts.

  2. No stimulants. No alcohol, energy drinks or drugs for 24 hours before the test.

  3. Medication. Be sure to tell the examiner about any medication you are taking (especially medicines that affect blood pressure or heart rhythm).

  4. Emotional balance. Try not to have it out with your partner right before your visit to us.

There are also certain contraindications to a lie detector test: an acute flare-up of cardiovascular disease, severe mental disorders and intoxication.

Can you beat a polygraph if you really did cheat?

The query “can you beat a polygraph cheating” has thousands of views on YouTube. The internet is full of tips about drawing pins in your shoes, holding your breath or sedative pills.

I’ll be frank: to an experienced specialist, these “tricks” look like child’s play. Modern equipment and special sensors pick up the slightest attempts at countermeasures. An attempt to manipulate the instrument is automatically reflected in the conclusion and is usually regarded as confirmation that the truth is being concealed.

Fidelity test: the price and the value of peace of mind

The query “fidelity test price” is perfectly logical, since the service requires high qualifications and expensive equipment. The price of the test covers not just “the machine’s work” but:

  • An in-depth analytical consultation.

  • Individually designed tests.

  • Conducting the procedure and a detailed interpretation of the charts.

  • An official written conclusion.

You are paying not for the device but for expertise and complete confidentiality of your private situation.

Can a polygraph save a relationship?

A lie detector is not a family therapist. It will not bring love back or heal wounds. But it removes the worst thing of all — uncertainty. For some, this becomes the foundation for rebuilding trust with a clean slate. For others, it is a chance to part in a civilised way, with facts in hand rather than guesses.

The truth can be painful, but it is the only thing you can build a future on.
