A polygraph examiner stated on social media: “I want to put Dmytro Gordon on a lie detector” (source) — referring to a proposal to test, on a polygraph, the accusations made against the journalist on social media. The statement caused a public stir and brought to mind the long-standing practice of using the polygraph in public conflicts involving well-known figures.
A polygraph examiner (quote): “I want to put Dmytro Gordon on a lie detector” — this phrase came up in a discussion of accusations circulating on social media. Important: an offer to take a polygraph test is not a statement of guilt, and the test itself is only possible with the person’s voluntary consent. At the time of publication, the person the quote belongs to had not provided any more detailed information, and Dmytro Gordon had not officially commented on the statement.
The statement sparked lively interest on social media and recalled precedents in which the polygraph featured in public disputes. Such public tests only make sense when the questions are agreed in advance, the test is carried out by an independent polygraph examiner, and the conclusion is published only with the consent of the person tested.
